Sorry, Mom and Dad

Well, you came into this world naked, screaming and covered in blood
who was there to wipe you off and give you your first hug?
And it took a couple years to figure out how to not shit in your pants
but someone was there to clean you up and powder off your rash
It's been them from the start, the ones you tortured and broke their hearts
the two that you hate- the two that you blame- the very same ones that
gave you your name

Remember the time you were five and you lied about who broke your lamp?
Who were the ones that sat you down and gave you a second chance?
It's been them from the start, the ones you tortured and broke their hearts
the two that you hate- the two that you blame- the very same ones that
gave you your name

[Chorus:]
Go home to Mom and Dad and say you're sorry,
It's the least that you can do, after all you've put them through.
Oh, come on.
Beg Mom and Dad's forgiveness, they deserve it.
Even if you don't mean it, make them believe you that it's true.
And when they offered you up all that great advise,
you just screamed "Fuck you, both- and let me live my life!
I'm gonna go out drinking with my friends have unprotected sex,
pierce my nose and get a tattoo of a dragon on my neck!"

[Chorus:]
Call Mom and Dad and finally say you're sorry,
It's the least that you can do, after all you've put them through.
Oh, come on.
Beg Mom and Dad's forgiveness, they deserve it.
Even if you don't mean it, make them believe you that it's true.
Cuz now your 35 and working in a warehouse cuz you spent your college money on cocaine.
And the shame of your existence is ever so persistent cuz you know your parents tried
and you're to blame- you're to blame, cuz

It's been the from the start, the ones you tortured and broke their hearts
the two that you hate- the two that you blame- the very same ones that
gave you your name

[Chorus:]
Go home to Mom and Dad and say your sorry,
It's the least that you can do, after all you've put them through.
Oh, come on.
Beg Mom and Dad's forgiveness, they deserve it.
Even if you don't mean it, make them believe you that it's true.

The Updates..

So I created a new "thank you" image.

right now it is at http://web.mac.com/bjtravis

Got the new nose ring. check them out ...

So yeah. Been a fairly productive day.

A few new things

Just a small update. I am working on budgeting things still. Apparently having a budget doesn't automatically mean I will follow it. *shrug* What can yah do?

I want to make another "thank you for being alive" image, like this one that I did -->

I will work on that today.

Back onto the budget thing: I have about $60 dollars to last me two weeks. I have a full tank of gas. That sixty bucks needs to make it through grocery shopping and (hopefully) a new nose ring which I might go pick up today. I still haven't fixed my car or gotten it tagged yet. My manager has not been successful in getting my pay taken care of, either. Come Wednesday, it will be a full two months since I was supposed to get my raise and they have been "fighting with paperwork" since. *sigh* John Mayer's cover of Message in a Bottle is phenomenal. Seeing as how I am appreciating his work less and less in recent months, that's saying something.

Days like today scare me a bit. Days that make me think staying here in Georgia wouldn't be that bad. BUT IT WOULD BE!!

Fact.

I'm done for now. I will post some stuff later tonight.

Sporadic thoughts at starbucks..

It has been a few days since I updated. My apologies. Since I do not have internet at my current apartment, updating daily is fairly difficult. Sorry!

Moving on:

1. Chris is moving home soon. This, if you did not know, is a good thing. You see, a few years ago, Chris met a girl on Myspace. Who lived in the Philippines. Recently, he decided to move there. To marry her.

*pausing for laughter*

All done? Good. Amazingly enough, it worked out! He is, however, moving home in the next few weeks to begin saving for Expedition: NYC (TM). I am also happy because currently, the biggest asshole in the USA is sitting in a chair at Starbucks on Barrett Pkwy in Kennesaw, GA. When Chris gets back, he will take the "biggest asshole" title back -- with force, if necessary.
Incidentally, my Starbucks coffee is amazing tonight. And this chair I am sitting in is awfully comfortable. =)
2. I should be getting promoted soon. However, I have heard this before. So I will not hold my breath. The NYC plans will be escalated if all goes according to plan. Do you know how nice it will be to actually get paid for the job I am doing? *happy sighs*
3. The newest Relient K album is glorious. I recommend listening at least once. Specifically, the song "Must have done something right" makes me smile.
4. I like her. So I met a girl at Starbucks about a week ago. And now I like her. Please see next item.
5. Dammit. This means the universe is probably playing some huge cosmic joke on someone somewhere.
6. Marlboro cigarettes are growing on me. As a former Camel Lights kinda guy, I never appreciated the harshness (or sheer awesomeness) of a "rougher" cigarette. Now I do. Yay!
7. I have decided to only get one more tattoo. And I am removing most of my piercings. I decided to only leave in my nose. The final tattoo is going to be the lyrics to RENT: Life Support and RENT: Will I? on my back. And no more tongue piercing. Thats a trip!
8. Oh yeah. I got my nose pierced. Thats pretty awesome.
9. The update: I am still looking at the end of this year before I can make NYC happen, but I am okay with that. I will be able to get a lot of money saved up, and my entire design studio will be paid for. Thats a major plus. I am looking at Brooklyn or Queens. I'll update that a little bit later.

As a closing note, now you do not have to wonder which piercings are cool! The Ferret will tell you!

The NYC plans continue

So last night I did a budget. It was dank.

It basically allows me to move in a grand total of 8 months. Ish. Which is pretty B.A. (bad ass. as if you did not know). Thats moving with about 8 grand saved up, have all the equipment ready to go for the design studio, and be 100% current on all my bills. Which, by definition, would be a.w.e.s.o.m.e.

Hoo.Rah.

In other news, I have decided that everyone needs to use Delicious to manage their bookmarks in Mozilla Firefox. http://del.icio.us

That is all.

Things I will miss

Even though I do not expect these entries to be frequent enough to warrant a new scope in my posts, I believe these are worth mentioning (at least once) . . .
  1. The three IHOP servers on Highway 41 in Sa-myr-na ;)
  2. Jarrod and Tanya from the Town Center Starbucks
  3. About half of my fellow associates at "the Box"

TIDCA 1 - 4

  1. My roommate. Showing up at 4 am with her annoying friend. And two random bar rats. When I have to be up at 7 am for a three hour meeting.
  2. Being up for a meeting at 7 am.
  3. Coming home after the meeting to find the bar rats. Asleep. On my couch.
  4. The three girls at the Smyrna IHOP between 4:30 am and 6:00 am this morning. Thank you for making me both love & hate "natural selection"
    • Love: Because they will eventually be gone
    • Hate: Because they aren't yet
So ends Things I don't care about 1 - 4.

The ultimate purpose ...

So an intro:

I am 22 years old. I live in Atlanta, Georgia (hereafter referred to as "hell" ...) I have been struggling to make it as a graphic designer for roughly 7 years. It has not worked out well. ;)

About three weeks ago, I had the bright idea to move to New York City; a starving artists paradise, right? So I am currently making strides to do so and with this blog will be focusing mainly on four items:
  • My transition from Atlanta to New York City
  • My general attempt to flee my current job. From here on out, I will refer to it only as "the Box"
  • My switch from my Toshiba Windows XP laptop to a new Mac OS X MacBook
  • People, places and things (and anything I else I decide to write about) that I no longer care about
So, to sum up: Atlanta, bad. NYC, good. Hooray!
